A Different Mindset for 2017

Now 2017 has arrived. Have a new mindset for the New Year.

In the beginning of every new year, we all have new expectations and new resolutions. Unfortunately, most of them become unfulfilled, and we then look forward to another new year to come. If you look back over the past years, does this apply to you?

Why not have a different mindset for 2017?

Instead of a mindset of expectations, why not have a different one -- a mindset of no expectations?

Alexander Pope, the English poet,  once said: "Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.

According to Lao Tzu, the ancient sage from China, the author of Tao Te Ching, an immortal classic on human wisdom, also known as Tao wisdom, "Having no expectations" is not passive living; instead, it means "doing good deeds with no expectations." You are nice to people because you are a nice person, and not because you expect people to be nice to you in return. Don't be a "user" of people. "Having no expectations" holds the key to good and harmonious human relationships,

"Having no expectations" is also applicable to many different everyday life situations. You act with knowledge, but with no expectations of results of what you wish to accomplish. If you have expectations, you may become unduly stressed when things don't turn out the way you think they should. Like a gardener, you simply plant your seeds, and you will reap what you sow. Like a gardener, you have only a general idea what will happen to your seeds, but how the seeds will grow depends on many factors, such as the soil conditions, the weather, and the reaction of the seeds to the environment, is determined by nature, which is beyond your control.

Remember, what you end up getting in life is determined neither by your desires nor your expectations, but by your true nature: who you really are. Your true nature determines your actions and reactions, as well as your life choices and perceptions of your life experiences.

The bottom line:always be a better person, and you will be blessed throughout 2017.
